In an earlier post, I suggested ways to pair daily entries from Finding Faithfulness: A Year of Reading and Reflecting on God’s Word with specific dates to make holiday reading more meaningful in 2024.
As the end of this year approaches, a couple of reminders may be timely and helpful. If you’ve reached Week 47, you may notice the Day 5 entry addresses Thanksgiving. Because that holiday occurs a week later this year, you may want to save that entry for next week Thursday (US Thanksgiving) by switching it with the Week 48/Day 5 entry.
And just a heads up that some order changes near the end of the year may make the holiday season more meaningful. To enjoy Christmas-themed readings on logical and appropriate days, consider implementing these changes:
December 19 = Week 52/Day 6
December 20 = Week 52/Day 7
December 21 = Week 51/Day 5
December 22 = Week 52/Day 1
December 23 = Week 51/Day 6
December 24 = Week 51/Day 7
December 25 = Week 52/Day 2
December 26 = Week 52/Day 3
December 27 = Week 52/Day 4
December 28 = Week 52/Day 5
December 29 = This would be a good time to go way back to Week 1/Day 1, which you may have skipped to begin this year on the correct day of the week.
December 30 = BONUS DAY due to Leap Year! Use it to catch up on missed readings or any special meditation of your choice
December 31 = Week 53/Day 1
Of course, you may read entries whenever you like. Don’t worry if you take more than a year. The important thing is developing the habit of reflecting carefully on every part of God’s Word.
And if you’re keeping up with daily reading and reflection, congratulations! I hope and pray you’re seeing the benefits and joys of consistent immersion in God’s word. Blessings!
