When Classis Eastern US of the URCNA met on March 17, 2011, it decided to proceed in joint fellowship and church planting endeavors.
Classis asked its fraternal relations committee to cooperate with the OPC Presbytery of NJ in planning a joint meeting. Delegates of both bodies will combine worship and fellowship times while meeting separately for business.
The classical church planting committee recommended and received funding for outreach advertising in five areas: Whitinsville, MA; New Haven, CT; Hoboken/Jersey City, NJ; Allentown, PA; and Columbia, MD.
Plans are being made for a Semper Reformada conference in connection with the next Classis meeting, scheduled for October 18-19, 2011 at Preakness Valley URC in Wayne, NJ.
On the Sunday following Thursday’s Classis meeting, most of the churches participated in a classis wide pulpit exchange. Since there are great geographical distances between churches of Classis Eastern US, pulpit exchange has been identified as a priority in promoting unity among the congregations.
