>Hero

>My daughter, Bethany, is my hero.

She’s in Nashville at sales training school before beginning her summer of 80-hour weeks selling books door-to-door for Southwestern. (If you’re wondering why Southwestern is so named when it’s headquartered in Nashville, it’s because when the company began over 150 years ago, that was the southwestern part of the United States.)

It’s sure to be what she would call “a character-building experience” and one of her toughest summers, but it also has the potential to be one of her most lucrative. I believe she is very brave. She’s been blessed with the necessary perseverance and positive attitude; I am trusting in God’s protection and providence.

But if He so moves you to pray; I’d appreciate that.

  1. >My younger sister worked for Southwestern for 6 summers! God not only protected her, but grew her in her love and trust of Him during that time. She not only had the opportunity to know her need of Him more than she had ever known of it before, but God gave her a couple of host families that were strong Christians that encouraged her along the way. Blessings, from a long-time lurker on your blog and also a one time Iowa (for 5 years) resident.

  2. >I’m glad to hear about your sister’s positive experience. It really is a good program; it’s just not for everyone, and my daughter recently decided that it wasn’t for her. Thanks for reading, Sherry!
